THE SPECIALIST BUSINESS LENDER

A technology partnership that helped automate a previously offline credit rating process, and bring about tangible improvements and benefits to the client business.

The Client

GetCapital is a specialist business lender from Australia whose primary goal is to make it easier for business owners to access the finances they need to operate and grow. They have been recognised by AFR’s Fast 100, Deloitte’s Technology Fast50, Smart Company’s Smart50 and Deloitte’s Asia Pacific Technology Fast 500 for their strong customer focus and use of technology to enhance customer experience.

The Goal

To design and develop a repayment module that would help automate the credit rating process (traditionally, an offline one) related to repayments. To Bring about process improvements that will result in time and cost savings for the business.

The process

The first thing we did was to determine the full scope of the application. For instance, it needed to process customer bank statements and generate credit assessment model (CAM) reports based on predefined algorithms. While doing this we also realised it was imperative to support and maintain and have no impact on the applications for existing business lending products, customer banking analyses, and customer application.


During the initial phase of the engagement, we helped resolve a business-critical problem related to the customer onboarding process and data collection by working with the Proviso provider (third party service) and GetCapital’s relationship manager to identify and isolate issues related to the process. We then redesigned and implemented a solution which had a direct positive impact, reflected in the reduction of customer complaints (to zero!) within 30 business days.


As a technology partner, we also performed a detailed analysis of existing products, sharing our observations and recommendations with our client. Some important highlights were:

  • Working with the client’s technology team to migrate the architecture from MVC to microservices; this migration was driven by our team who shifted product lines to a .Net Core service and rolled them out in phases.
  • Integrating customer analysis with Salesforce and other accounting softwares to process business loans instantly and reduce GetCapital’s approval cycle from days to hours.
  • Revamping the customer application and upgrading banking analysis to keep the system up-to-date. This included security patches and framework updates.
